About the Brand
Ener-G Foods, Inc. is a family-owned business located in Seattle, Washington. Purchased by Sam M. Wylde, founder of Sam Wylde Flour Co., in 1962, Ener-G Foods has evolved to become one of the largest producers devoted to special diet foods in the United States.

Our mission at Ener-G Foods, as one of the country's foremost producers of foods for diet-restricted individuals, is to provide a wide range of ready-made foods and mixes that are wholesome, nutritious, risk free, and good tasting. We are constantly responding to the demand for special diets with research, innovative products, and convenience foods.

Since 1962, when we first created low-protein products for renal pre-dialysis patients, we have striven to meet the challenging requirements for diet restricted consumers. We not only offer wheat-free, gluten-free products, but also products for low-protein diets, egg-free, and dairy-free products. Our bakery is dedicated to wheat-free, gluten-free baking, guaranteeing that contamination from gluten will not occur. Our innovative packaging gives our products a 1-year shelf life without the need for refrigeration. We bake our products as orders are received to insure that the freshest product is available.

How we got to where we are today.
In 1887, Sam M. Wylde's grandfather started the first flourmill in Seattle. It was built to supply export flour to the orient as well as supply flour to the people of Washington State. After World War I, Sam M. Wylde's father and uncles joined the family business and learned the milling industry. Meanwhile, Sam Wylde traveled the country and the world working at everything from elevator salesman to a ships' steward. Returning to Seattle after World War II, Sam Wylde was one of the founders of Brodie Restaurant and Hotel Supply, but when Sam's father took ill, he left Brodie to help run the family mill.

When Sam Wylde's father died, his uncles, Norman and Alan, decided to close the mill. Unemployed, Sam Wylde started Sam Wylde Flour Co. to distribute flour and bakery items to local bakeries. The fleet of trucks bearing Sam Wylde's name ranged all over Western Washington, from the Canadian border to as far south as Southern California. Fisher Mills, Inc, bought Sam Wylde Flour Co., of Seattle. Fisher Mills later sold Sam Wylde Flour Mills to a Dutch company, Puratos. Puratos has changed the name of Sam Wylde Flour Mills to Puratos. Fisher Mills no longer exists.

When Sam Wylde purchased Ener-G Foods, Inc. in 1962, we were little more than a two-person operation in which all packing was done by hand. Shortly after acquiring Ener-G Foods, Sam was approached by Dr. Scribner of the University of Washington. Dr. Scribner, known worldwide as the father of dialysis, is credited with inventing what we commonly call the kidney machine.

Meeting with Dr. Scribner and his dietitian, Sondra Aker, they explained that there was an acute shortage of dialysis machines and they desperately needed a low protein bread. The University of Washington had one dialysis machine for thousands of kidney patients. Since the kidneys convert protein to uric acid, if the protein intake were restricted, the kidneys would not have to work so hard, hence would require less frequent dialysis.

Sam Wylde and Ener-G Foods worked on low-protein bread for about a year before arriving at an acceptable result. Made with a base of wheat starch it was low in protein, sodium, potassium and phosphorus, therefore acceptable for a low-protein diet. It was also discovered that by restricting protein intake, progression of renal failure could be slowed even for patients on the dialysis unit.

Sometime later, Dr. Cyrus Rubin, inventor of the Rubin Biopsy Tube and professor of Gastroenterology at the University of Washington, sent his dietitian to us with a request for a gluten-free bread with one restriction, "I don't want any wheat starch." Also at about the same time, Sam Wylde, Sr., developed prostrate cancer and Sam Wylde, III, having completed his MBA in Oregon, moved back to Seattle to assist his father with both Ener-G Foods and Sam Wylde Flour Co. Sam Wylde, III, began working nights on developing gluten-free breads and other products without the use of wheat starch.

Worthington Veja-Links, 19-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)

Description
100% Vegetarian. Completely meatless, and 67% less fat than meat hot dogs. 3g Fat in Vega-Links. 9g Fat in Beef Hot Dogs. Exchange 1 Lean Meat. The Dietary Exchanges are based on the Exchange Lists for Meal Planning 2003 by the American Diabetes Association, Inc. and The American Dietetic Association.

About the Brand
For more than 65 years, Worthington and Loma Linda have created new and innovative products for consumers looking for vegetarian options.

Worthington Foods began as Special Foods in 1939, founded by psychiatrist Dr. George Harding. Dr. Harding was committed to providing health for the body and mind with an emphasis on nutrition and vegetarianism. The first products were the meat alternatives Proast (dark meat) and Numete (light meat). Special Foods grew throughout the years and saw a jump in production due to a shortage of meat during WWII. In 1945, Special Foods changed its name to Worthington.

In the decades to follow, Worthington Foods led the way to new vegetarian products. During the 1950s, Worthington increased in size due to acquisitions and new product developments, such as Soyamel and Veja-Link, the world's first vegetarian hot dog. In the 1960s, Worthington experienced two major breakthroughs. First, using spun soy fiber to create a meat-like texture helped to bring new vegetarian products to market. Second, Worthington was the first to bring frozen vegetarian food into supermarkets.

In the 1970s, under new ownership by Miles Laboratories, Worthington introduced Morningstar Farms products. In 1982, the original founders bought back the business and, soon after, Dale Twomley became CEO, taking the company public in 1992. You now find these products under the Kellogg's family of brands.

About Kellogg's
Consumers around the world are enjoying Kellogg products--one of which, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, has been part of a healthy, delicious morning for a century. The company that makes breakfast and snacks for millions began with only 44 employees in Battle Creek, Michigan, in 1906. Today, Kellogg Company employs more than 25,000 people, manufactures in 17 countries, and sells its products in more than 180 countries.

Over the past 100 years, innovation and a commitment to being the best in the categories in which they compete have guided the company. From being the first company to offer premiums in its cereal boxes to being the first to fortify its cereals, Kellogg has historically been a leader in industry, innovation, and marketing.

The company's founder, W.K. Kellogg, had a strong commitment to nutrition, health, and quality. His vision continues to drive improvement in Kellogg's products and processes, with the goal of providing great-tasting, nutritious products that meet the most rigorous quality standards.

The company’s brands include Kellogg’s, Keebler, Pop-Tarts, Eggo, Cheez-It, Nutri-Grain, Rice Krispies, Murray, Austin, Morningstar Farms, Famous Amos, Carrs, and Kashi, among others.

Absolutely delicious. As someone who grew up drinking coconut water every day in east Africa, it was hard to live without it in the US. A friend recently introduced me to VitaCoco and it is perfect! Tastes exactly like a fresh coconut, but with the added benefit of being chilled! I LOVE IT. Only wish it were cheaper so I could guzzle it in the quantities I'm used to!

Italian Cheese Sampler (2 Pound) by igourmet.com

Italian Cheese Sampler (2 Pound) by igourmet.com

Description
This sampler features four cheeses that are typical of four distinct regions of Italy: Toma Piedmontese - Made in the Piedmont region of course, this cheese is surface ripened, meaning it ripens from the rind inward. Toma is a delectable mountain cheese that has a thin rind, a custard-like texture, small pores and a sweet lactic flavor with a gentle bite.

Piave Vecchio - Similar to Asiago, Piave Vecchio (aged) is a firm, dry, slightly nutty cheese from the valleys of Northeastern Italy. Mountain Gorgonzola - Italy's famous blue cheese comes from Lombardy. Made from cow's milk taken from local herds that graze on beautiful rolling pastures, no Italian Cheese Assortment would be complete without a cut of authentic Gorgonzola. Toscano - This soft, sheep's milk cheese is made in the hills of Tuscany. It is young, sweet and springy. We find that this combination well represents the wide variety of flavors and textures found in Italian cheeses.

Cheddars of the World Assortment (2 Pound) by igourmet.com

Cheddars of the World Assortment (2 Pound) by igourmet.com

Description
Along with their conquering armies, the Romans brought their cheesemaking expertise to England in the first century AD. But it was not until the sixteenth century when the cheese we know today as Cheddar was so named. With such a long history, it's no surprise that Cheddar is one of the world's favorite foods. So popular, in fact, that almost every cheese producing nation makes its own version.

This assortment contains excellent examples from three continents: Coombe Farm English Farmhouse Cheddar: Still made by hand on Coombe Farm in Somerset, the county where Cheddar history began. This best-selling Cheddar is rich, tangy and full-flavored. Aged for over 15 months. Red Leaf Canadian Cheddar: This entrant from North America has a firm texture and a sweet, honeyed flavor. Best enjoyed with ale and fruit, this Cheddar is aged for over 12 months. King Island Dairy Black Label Cloth Wrapped Cheddar: Hailing from down under, this award winning truckle style cheddar is aged for a minimum of six months and made in Tasmania. It has a wonderful farmhouse appearance with a brown/grey rind. The cheese interior has a rich yellow buttery colour and a mild yet sweet and nutty flavour and a lingering subtle aftertaste. Shelburne Farms 2 Year Farmhouse Cheddar: Shelburne's award winning cheese is only made from the fresh, raw milk of purebred Brown Swiss cows raised on the farm. This spectacular cheese, is made in Vermont, aged for two full years, is noted for its sophisticated, rich flavor that leaves hints of maple and apple. This assortment contains four 1/2 pound wedges. Please note that any item temporarily out of stock will be substituted with a similar item of equal value.

Good Start Supreme Infant Formula with Iron with DHA & ARA, Powder, 25.7-Ounce Cans (Pack of 6)

tittle

* Just add to warm water; patented two-step process starts with gentle 100% whey protein, the highest quality protein used in infant formula
* Through volunteer programs and sponsorships, Nestle regularly contributes to the educational and social development of youth across the nation

Review: By S. Walsh "School Bus"

My two sons have both been brought up on Nestle Good Start with DHA & ARA. After the first three types of formula made my first son throw up all the time (Similac, Enfamil, and Similac Lactose-free), our doctor suggested Good Start and we've had much better luck. There must be something to that whole "Comfort Proteins" label on the can.

As for people complaining about the price, I don't know how they do their math. We've bought cans of this stuff from Wal-Mart and Target, and Amazon is cheaper by dollars, not cents. Here are my tips:

1: You love Amazon, so sign up for Amazon Prime. You'll get the formula in two days without paying shipping. This eliminates people's claims that shipping makes it more expensive than Wal Mart and people's complaints that it takes four months (which is a problem with Amazon Grocery early in its genesis, not a problem with the formula itself).

2: Use the Grocery3 or other $10 off promo code while you can. This, combined with Amazon Prime's free two-day shipping, makes the cost of each can of formula less than $22 with no sales tax. Maybe if you live in Oregon and don't have sales tax and your local Target or Wal Mart for a goof drops the price to lower than $22 and you happen to live next door to Wal Mart and don't have to drive there, wait in line, and drive home, you can beat the price.

In summary, this is good formula that lives up to its claim about being easier on babies' stomachs, and if you work the system, it's cheaper to have it delivered to your doorstep than to go fight the crowds at your local superstore.
